Flex Boron Sheet

Flex Boron Sheet

MODEL JC238

Description:

John Caunt Scientific supply Flexible Boron Sheet. This is a fire resistant silicon based elastomer containing a high weight percentage of boron. Model JC238 is used to attenuate thermal neutrons around irregular shapes. It is extremely flexible and can be bent to a radius of 6.4mm.

Flex Boron Sheet has a very high boron concentration (2.32 x 1022 boron atoms/cc), containing 25.3 weightpercent boron uniformly distributed through each silicone elastomer sheet. The high boron content gives a thermal attenuation factor of 259 for the standard 1/8" (3.2mm) thickness. It will withstand temperatures up to 400°F (205°C) without loss of physical or nuclear properties, and is selfextinguishing when exposed to flame.

JC238 flexible sheet material is useful for shielding irregular shapes such as cylinders. It can be bent in a radius as small as 1/4' (6.4mm).

Chemical & Physical Properties:

Hydrogen atoms/cc: 2.7 x 1022
